Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-11

These terms are the agreement between you and the person who runs hugge. They are written to be read, not to be survived, so they are short and in plain English. By creating an account you accept them, so please read them first. If something is unclear, write and ask.

Who provides hugge

hugge is provided by:

Vladyslav Zakharov
Provst Dreslers Vej 54, 3. tv.
9900 Frederikshavn
Denmark

Email: info.hugge@gmail.com

hugge is run by a private individual, not a company. There is no organisation behind it, no support department and no team. When you write to that address, one person reads it. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that person, and “you” means you.

What hugge is

hugge helps you learn to understand spoken Danish. You listen to a short recording or video, you type what you heard, and hugge shows you which words you missed. Around that there are vocabulary notes you can keep, translations, a writing task with feedback, a mascot that will translate a phrase for you, a practice streak, a small leaderboard, and sometimes classes and live teacher-led events.

hugge is a practice tool. It is not a course, not a qualification, not a certification, and not a substitute for a teacher. Nothing on hugge is advice. We do not promise that using it will get you to any particular level of Danish, or through any particular exam.

You need to be at least 13

You must be at least 13 to have a hugge account. Denmark sets 13 as the age at which a young person can agree on their own behalf to an online service like this one, and hugge follows that.

If you are under 13, please do not create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it and the data attached to it. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use hugge.

We ask for your date of birth during setup. Please give us the real one.

Your account

You can sign up with an email address and a password, or with Google. Either way, you are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. If you think someone else has got in, tell us straight away.

One person, one account. Please do not share an account, and please do not create one in someone else’s name. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep it accurate — you can correct most of it yourself in Settings.

How to behave here

Some of what you do on hugge is visible to other people: your name, picture and weekly points to the others in your leaderboard group; your name and picture to the people at an event you registered for; your name, picture and progress to the teacher of a class you joined; and your writing to a peer if you invite one to review it. So there is a short list of things not to do.

Do not harass, threaten, abuse or impersonate anyone — including through peer feedback and support messages. Do not upload a picture or write a note, a writing-task answer, a support message or a teacher application that is illegal, hateful, sexual, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

Do not try to break hugge or reach parts of it that are not yours: no attacking the service, no probing for holes, no trying to read other people’s data, no bots or scripts, no bulk downloading or scraping of the learning content, no working around the daily limits, and no reverse engineering.

Do not use the AI features to produce content that breaks any of the above, or to push the model into behaving in ways it is not meant to.

If you break these rules we may suspend or close your account, as described below.

What you write stays yours

Anything you create on hugge is yours: your vocabulary notes, the emails you write in the module test, the feedback you give other learners, your support messages, your profile picture. We do not claim ownership of it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.

We do need permission to run the service with it — to store it, show it back to you, show it to the people the feature is for, and pass it to the services hugge depends on so the feature works. The one worth naming explicitly: the writing task and the mascot translator send what you typed to a third-party AI model to produce feedback or a translation. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly who receives what.

That permission lasts as long as your content is in the service and ends when it is deleted. Please only write things you have the right to write, and please do not put private or sensitive information into anything another person will read. We may remove content that breaks the rules above, or that we are legally required to remove.

The AI features, and what they are worth

Two parts of hugge use an AI model: the feedback on your module-test writing, and the mascot translator. Three things to know.

The model can be wrong, sometimes confidently. Its feedback and its translations are practice material, not a correct answer and not a verdict from a teacher. Check anything that matters.

There is a daily limit per account on both features. Hitting it does not break anything — you simply get no AI feedback until the next day.

We may switch either feature off at any time, for instance if it becomes too expensive or stops working well.

Our content, and other people’s

The exercises, recordings, transcripts, translations and the design of the app belong to us or to the people we licensed them from. Use them for your own learning. Please do not copy them, sell them, republish them, or use them to build a competing service. The name hugge and the logo are ours.

Some exercises play videos hosted on YouTube, through YouTube’s own player. Those videos belong to their creators, and YouTube’s terms and privacy policy apply while you watch them.

Teachers, classes and events

Teacher accounts are granted by application and invitation. If we approve your application and you accept the invitation, your account becomes a teacher account.

A teacher who owns a class can see the names, pictures and progress of the learners enrolled in it, invite learners, and set work. Joining a class means agreeing to that. You can leave a class. Teachers must use what they see only for teaching, and are bound by the same rules as everyone else.

Some events have limited seats and a waiting list. Registering does not guarantee a seat, and an event may be rescheduled or cancelled. We will tell you if that happens.

hugge is free

hugge is free to use. No card, no trial that quietly becomes a subscription, no lesson limit that appears in week two. Because it is free there is no payment, no refund and nothing to cancel.

Some things genuinely cost money to provide — live teacher-led sessions are the obvious one. If any part of hugge ever stops being free, we will say so on the hugge website before it happens, not in an email afterwards.

We do not promise hugge will always work

hugge is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, that it will be free of bugs, that the audio will always play, that the transcripts and translations are correct, or that the AI feedback is right.

We may change hugge, add things, remove things, take it down for maintenance, or stop running it altogether. If we are going to shut hugge down we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out first. We also depend on other services — hosting, storage, email, AI, analytics — and when one of them is down, hugge may be down with it.

Please do not let hugge be the only place your Danish vocabulary lives.

Ending this

You can stop using hugge whenever you like. To have your account deleted, email info.hugge@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. There is no self-service delete button today; a person does it when you ask. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your use is harming the service or the people on it, or if we are legally required to. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. Serious cases — abuse of another user, illegal content — may mean immediate closure.

Liability

hugge is free, and it is run by one person in their own time. That has to show up in what you can hold us responsible for.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or deliberate wrongdoing, for gross negligence, or for anything else Danish law does not let us limit. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights under Danish consumer law are untouched by anything in these terms.

Subject to that, and because hugge costs you nothing, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss: lost time, lost progress, lost data you could reasonably have kept a copy of, a missed exam, a missed opportunity, or the cost of using something else instead. For anything else, our total liability to you is limited to 1,000 DKK.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we will change the date at the top and publish the new version on the hugge website. Where a change matters to you, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

If you keep using hugge after a change takes effect, that is your agreement to the new version. If you do not agree, stop using hugge and ask us to delete your account.

Danish law, and where a dispute goes

These terms are governed by Danish law. If we end up in a dispute we cannot settle by writing to each other, it goes to the Danish courts, starting with the court for the district of Frederikshavn.

That does not take away your rights as a consumer. If you live elsewhere in the EU you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you can bring a case in the courts there.

Getting in touch

For anything at all — a question about these terms, a problem with your account, a request to delete it, or a complaint:

info.hugge@gmail.com

Or use the support chat inside the app, which reaches the same person.

The privacy side

These terms cover the agreement. What happens to your personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is worth reading alongside this one.
